EA Sports Releasing More Home Content

Here is the official word from EA Sports:

To kick-off the summer we are launching new content on Home for the PlayStation 3. The first big change was the addition of a 2nd race track in the EA SPORTS Complex, which is now referred to as the EA SPORTS Racing Complex. This launch coincided with the addition of score posting and the boost shop. This big change allowed us to double the number of racing seats, so hopefully no more long waits to get on a track and post your times. In Europe we are also hosting an event during July featuring Vodafone taxi cabs as race cars. Everybody in Europe who tries out the racing game will get shirts, and a stand-up featuring racing champion Lewis Hamilton.

Next up will be the addition of the EA SPORTS Golf Complex. The downstairs area will feature 2 golf courses with a preview of the golf game. This mini-game will feature a driving range practice area ... so sharpen your skills, hit a few balls, and try to avoid the pond (and the 'sail boat.') We will launch the full Golf experience later in the summer. For taking the time to try out the driving range there is a reward; hit 50 balls and you'll earn 1 of 2 shirts (1 male, 1 female). When the full game is launched it will feature a 3-hole, closet to the pin competition. Also, upstairs in the Golf Complex you will find 4 shiny new Red Tournament poker tables. These tables are identical to the single red table found in the Racing Complex, which will now be converted to green. With over 1.5 million poker players served so far, we are eager to give players an easier way to find a seat. The elusive Ladies Poker Bracelets are being awarded for 8 player wins on both Green and Red tables, and for those who were previously awarded male bracelets simply visiting the poker floors should earn you the lady's versions as well.

Club FIGHT NIGHT, our next big space targeted for a mid July launch, is nearly complete. The club features content pulled directly from the FIGHT NIGHT Round 4 game like the main room, stage and a full sized boxing ring. The seats and chairs have been replaced with plenty of club type seating, including a VIP booth with a DJ table. The DJ table also serves as the center point for the new Club DJ game. The high-score leader boards will be available at launch so you can brag to your friends about your skills on the mixing board.

Also featured in the Club FIGHT NIGHT space will be a new robot boxing game, where for the first time you will be able to go toe-to-toe with somebody in Home. Now you can take your disagreements from the poker game straight to the ring! The robot boxing game will launch a few weeks after the release of the space, but you will be able to go to the game area and see a couple robots running drills for the upcoming game.

The EA SPORTS Pro Shop will also be launching later in July, and will feature boxing apparel from the PS3 game. Gloves, boots, headgear, and trunks will now be available for your avatar. Furniture from Club FIGHT NIGHT will be available to decorate your personal space with. Keep your eyes open for announcements regarding new content for the EA SPORTS Pro Shop.

The poker game will also be receiving some updates to improve stability. We really want to extend our thanks to the Home community for helping us track down some of the issues in the popular game. Community members like SgtDewy have been extremely helpful in sending in details surrounding issues. The comments we receive also help the team prioritize new features so please keep them coming.

The Abandoned Docks of Empire City

This new game space comes with electrifying content. One of them being a new form of User Generated Content (UGC). Playstation Home users get to make their own art using tools inside the mini-game. The art you create can be used to be displayed to show your friends. You can also vote on who has the best design. There is also another mini-game included in this space. A screenshot is included in the picture above. There is also another mini-game - a scrolling shooter-type button-masher called Reaper Shock that lets the community compete for high scores on the built-in global leaderboard (and rewards the most highly skilled with some rad reward items to decorate your avatar and your personal space with). PSN Game: Droplitz

The idea for this game came from a staff member at Blitz Game Studios whose name is James Parker. It is an addictive and mind working game. This puzzle game is a must have for anyone who likes strategy games and is a must try for everyone.

I am definitely going to buy this game once I put money into my account. There is no demo out yet but hopeully there will be in the future.

Now for you hardcore gamers out there, Droplitz is not a new Call of Duty for you guys. Do not critize a game because it isn't a shooter game. Don't get me wrong, I love first person shooters (FPS) but I also like other mini-games to keep me busy when those FPS games are not what I'm in the mood for.

Playstation Home Hits 7 million Users!

Wow! I am completely amazed. I have to admit, when Home first came out there was nothing to do and it was a total disgrace. After about April I found myself constantly on Home with friends and hanging out and having tons of fun.

Home has hit 7 million users and SONY has pointed out some figures for us:

In five months, Red Bull's free Air Racegame has been played by 873,136 unique users, clocking up over 2.5 million visits and 575,000 hours of gameplay. Average session duration is 39 minutes.

The game cost around 110,000 euros to develop, but has had an estimated marketing value of 1.5 million euros, according to a third-party media consultancy.

The three-month campaign around the Watchmen film clocked up 812,544 unique views - compromising 9.3 million viewed minutes - of an exclusive video with director Zack Snyder.

Over 3.2 million visits were made to the Watchmen area in Home. The two free avatar items - Rorschach and Nite Owl costumes - were downloaded 1.65 million times.

The two-week Star Trek campaign resulted in the sale of 450,000 costumes, 250,000 views of the video, while in two weeks, 125,000 people played Transformers puzzle games to gain a free virtual t-shirt and, if they completed all of them, a virtual trophy for their living area.

Home is optional for all users but if you don't use it, it is your loss because it is a great place to hang out and meet up with friends for a match.

BlazBlue for PS3 is Going to Support Remote Play

If you are getting the game called BlazBlue when it comes out and you also have a PSP, you know what that equals? Pure freaking ownage. This game comes tightly packed with awesome features, one of them being remote play of course.

If you are asking yourself, why in the hell do I need remote play? Well here is my answer. Let's say you are at an airport in freakin' China and your PS3 is way the hell back in New York, using wireless internet, you can turn on your PS3 and play this awesome game with your PSP as your remote. Then when you finish, quit remote play and turn off your PS3 using your PSP. That is the most awesome thing to ever come out.

The game hits the shelves next week and if you do not buy it your a bum. = )

SOCOM Patch 1.50 comes with FREE DLC

The 1.50 Update for SOCOM: Confrontation is feature complete and currently in test. Due to the number and scope of the feature set of 1.50 the testing cycle has taken longer than anticipated. We remain committed to releasing this patch as soon as the remaining open issues are resolved. It is extremely important to us to make sure the 1.50 update is as problem free as possible when it is released and we are working towards that goal rather than pushing it out as is on a specific date.

A number of features in 1.50 are of such a scale that it will not be possible for us to fully predict how they will behave before public deployment. An example of this is the tournaments, each of which can accommodate 1000s of players. To account for this, we will ramp the size and number of tournaments during the first weeks after release to monitor and address any issues which may arise. We have also been working on a 1.60 Update which will incorporate any fixes that are required as Tournaments and Clan Ladders become fully populated.

FREE Downloadable Content:

We are happy to announce that the 1.60 Update will also contain additional features and content. We’ve heard your requests for new content and we are happy to provide free downloadable content with the 1.60 update. The following free Downloadable Content will be available to all players:

New Special Forces: The Dutch KCT and the Italian COMSUBIN Special Forces. Each Force includes new heads and voice + a light, medium and heavy variant of their own torso and legs (each with a unique camouflage pattern).

Two new primary weapons will be immediately accessible to players who select to play as the new Special Forces; the 417 assault rifle for the Dutch KCT and the SPAS 15 shotgun for the Italian COMSUBIN Special Forces.

Four new weapons will be available to all players regardless of assigned Special Force. These are the 9mm Sub Machine Gun, M82A1A, Ak-74 and SR-25. The 1.60 will also include a number of weapon updates and adjustments to existing weapons.

In addition to the free DLC included with the 1.60 update we are also working to add 100% Random Medleys in the 1.60 update. We know this is a highly requested feature and we really want to get it out to you.

More DLC coming! - We can also confirm that we have been working on a major content release/pack. Look for an announcement later in the month.

Uncharted Movie is in Development!

Yup, Columbia Pictures is turning this amazing PS3 game into a full movie.

Sources say they have hired Kyle Ward to write the script for this soon-to-be action movie. Kyle Ward has been hired to also script the movie Hitman 2.

The Hollywood Reporter, reports that the movie follows the story of the first game which is "a treasure hunter named Nate Drake ... believes he has learned the whereabouts of El Dorado, the fabled South American golden city, from a cursed golden statue." It also includes the other part to it. "The search becomes competitive when a rival hunter joins the fray, then is racheted up several notches when creatures -- actually mutated descendants of Spaniards and Nazis -- begin attacking those hoping to learn the treasure's true secrets."

So yes, there will be creatures in it. Hopefully after this movie they will work on a sequel because this movie has the full potiential to become an awesome movie for the year (whatever year it comes out).

The game, from Sony Computer Entertainment, sold 1 million copies in the first 10 weeks of its release at the end of 2007

UPDATE: Michael Jackson has suffered a cardiac arrest and has died. It is official.

Michael Jackson had 50 sold out concerts until the year 2010. Now, he won't be attending any of them as he has met his maker today. Michael Jackon was part of the Jackson 5 and is most popular for his single, "Thriller".

May God rest his soul. The King of Pop is gone but his spirit lives on. He has influenced many lives in this world today.

Even though I am not quite fond of him, I will still act accordingly and show my respect.

Hello, all PS.blog readers. I’m fortunate to get to work on a lot of PSN titles, such as Wipeout HD,Crash Commando, and Savage Moon. But I’m back on the blog today to talk about one of my titles from way back, Super Stardust HD. It’s one of the most popular games on PSN, and the big news today is that it’s celebrating its 2 year anniversary this week. It was developed by the fine gents and gals at Housemarque, located in Finland. As you may have noticed, my name isn’t too typical for an American name — yes, I’m from England, so it’s great to be working on all of these strong titles coming from great developers across the pond.

To commemorate the 2nd anniversary this week, here’s a message from one of the developers at Housemarque, Petteri Putkonen.

Hello everybody, my name is Petteri Putkonen and I am part of the Housemarque team.
Super Stardust HD was launched in June 2007, and we continue to be surprised by how many people around the world keep coming back for more to fight in an ongoing interstellar battle against massive planet killing meteors and evil alien forces. How did we do it?
The pre-history of Super Stardust HD adds its flavour even if the game mechanics, controls and design might not appear to have that much in common with the earlier shoot-‘em-up titles we’ve done in the past. The game has its origins deeply rooted in the very early history of Housemarque, as the company’s co-founder and original mastermind behind the game, Harri Tikkanen, led a small team of young game developers that created the very first Stardust game for the Amiga 500 computer way back in 1993.
Simply titled Stardust, the game had an evil mutant penguin Professor Schaumund trying to conquer the whole galaxy with his fleet of agents disguised as meteors, alien creatures and spaceships, but his nearly perfect plan was unlikely but ultimately foiled by a lone rebel pilot in a measly little spaceship. A few years later the most evil and twisted mutant penguin genius in the universe returned and wreaked havoc across the galaxy again in Super Stardust for the PC, the first game Housemarque got published in 1996. Throughout the years, several interpretations of Stardust saw the light of day on platforms like Atari ST, Amiga 1200 and Amiga CD32.
Jump to the present, and Professor Schaumund’s forces are back and we can’t help but be amazed when we see the kind of high scores players from all around the world have contributed to the global high score ranking lists on PSN. Just as an example, we originally estimated that the all time top high score in Arcade mode might reach a 500 million point mark, but as time has shown, players keep exceeding your expectations. Today, the top Arcade mode high score is over 1.7 BILLION points! We can only wonder whether it can be pushed any further, is it possible to go beyond 2 BILLION?? We’ll just have to wait and see…

Looking back, throughout the whole experience of developing Super Stardust HD, even with its success and critical acclaim the most important thing for us has been the personal feedback we’ve received from fans of the game from all corners of this planet. We’d like to thank you for all your kind words, emails and support. Although we’ve recently been busy with our current PlayStation 3 project, we still keep thinking of doing some updates for Super Stardust HD in the future. Right from the beginning, working on Super Stardust HD felt special for us. It was one of those rare projects where everything just clicked into place, where every design and technical decision felt like it was the right thing to do. We started working on the game in August 2006, and it was subsequently released as the first globally launched PSN game on 28th of June, 2007. We believe strongly that what we came up with is our best game yet, and if you haven’t tried it for yourself yet there’s never been a better time to do so.
As we rapidly approach 300,000 pilots listed in the global Arcade mode high score list, more and more players keep enlisting every week. A third of these have also played their way onto the Solo Game Pack’s high score lists, with an increasing amount of gamers also playing the game with friends in either the included split screen co-op mode or the Team Game Pack’s multiplayer party mode.
We’re currently busy trying to outdo ourselves with our next PSN exclusive game that’s in development at the moment. We’d love to tell you more about it but will have to wait a little bit longer before we can reveal any details. At the moment, all we can say is we’re confident it’ll be worth your wait.

We have two add-on packs for it, adding various single-player and multiplayer/co-op modes, and there’s even a demo so you can try it out before you buy it. And if you have a PSP, definitely check out Super Stardust Portable, which lets you take the experience with you on your PSP. We’ve done plenty of posts on the blog about the game, including a video with tips for racking up major points from one of the top players in the world. If you haven’t tried the game yet, now’s the perfect time. And if you already have, now’s the time to fire it up again try for a new high score.

Hustle Kings, A New Game for PSN

Hustle Kings, coming this winter exclusively to PSN and the PLAYSTATION 3. As esteemed developers at SCEE illustrates, Hustle Kings is without a doubt the most realistic and, frankly, impressive billiards game ever played. As an avid pool player myself, from 8-ball leagues to smoky snooker halls in the UK, I’ve just gotten used to billiard video games always “missing something”…that “something” is hard to quantify.

But I can honestly say that Hustle Kings gets it completely right! I wasn’t yet assigned to the project when a couple of my colleagues and I got our hands on it here around the office. I was initially quite skeptical given my history of video billiard disappointments, thinking it was going to be just another pool game, but after hitting a few shots I was sold. The amount of ball control is simply astounding, giving the player any and every shot option in the book…from masse shots to subtle swerves and tricky English, you can do anything to the cue ball in Hustle Kings that you can do around a real table. So the realism was there, but how would the game fare for a more casual gamer? Turns out everyone around the office, from the hardcore to the weekend warrior, to people I’ve rarely seen play games, found something to absolutely love about Hustle Kings.

I’ll save elaboration on all the game modes and technical ins and outs now. I can assure you there’s A TON of stuff in Hustle Kings that we’ll be announcing in the next few months. The New York "Cleaning" Plan

It's all part of the plan. They gave all of you plenty of time to stop acting like little kids, grow up, and get your lives going. But what did you people do, nothing.

Now they are almost finished with Harlem. Houses now are going for more than $700,000. Know why? To get rid of all the unsuccessful black and spanish people.

Next area, the area surrounding Target (225th Street & Broadway area). They just built a fancy mall next to the projects. In years, it will be a fancy neighborhood with the projects gone and luxury suites going for $400,000 - $500,000.

Don't believe me? Go walk around Harlem and look at the newest buildings. What do you know, they are all luxury apartments.

Major Update Coming to Playstation Home!

To say we have a pretty massive update coming for all of you this Thursday, June 18th would be the understatement of the week. To start, we’ll be unleashing the long-awaited SOCOM Tactical Operations Center space. This space is the first installment of a two-part SOCOM Home hub (the second highly interactive space – OPFOR – will follow the TOC shortly) that is the ideal 3D locale for the huge SOCOM community to meet up and socialize. At this new SOCOM strategy post, you will be able to plot the next course of action with your friends by gathering around the Telestrator tool and coordinating your next assault. Chock full of maps and modes from SOCOM: Confrontation, the Telestrator is a powerful tool that the Home community can use to collaborate, strategize, and enhance their gameplay experience. On top of this, the TOC boasts a regional leaderboard that pulls data from the SOCOM site and updates Career stats (such as all-time ranking, kills, deaths, and kills/deaths ratio) in real-time. And in an imminent refresh of the TOC you’ll also be able to purchase a slew of related virtual items to decorate your avatar with. So if you like to sport the Military chic look you’ll have to make a point to stop on by and load up on bandoliers, balaclavas, and other assorted tactical outerwear.

Also coming to the world of PlayStation Home this week is our first foray into movie and game-themed personal spaces. All of you virtual Egons will be overjoyed to find a Ghostbusters Firehouse personal space available for purchase. This 3-floor space comes jam-packed with tons of furniture and assorted decorations at no additional charge (including your very own Ecto-1). We hear that the basement’s ghost containment unit might have accidentally leaked a poltergeist or two, so you’ll have to keep an eye open for supernatural activity. Lucky for you, the Ghostbusters Firehouse comes with full Loot Stage Set functionality (including move props and portable blue screens) so you can stage your own Ghostbusters machinima. And as a token of our infatuation with the Ghostbusters franchise, we’re giving away free t-shirts that commemorate the 25th anniversary of Slimer hitting the silver screen. So be sure to log in and load up on all the goodies while the gettin’ is there to be gotten.

Electronic Arts is also freshening up their hugely-popular EA SPORTS Complex with additional Racing tracks, a leaderboards, Racing Boost Shop, and Poker updates (including bracelets for the ladies). The as-of-yet-unopened Golf Pro Shop space will temporarily disappear but will reappear and launch within a short time, so have no worries. All in all, this is a pretty significant update to the Complex, so if you haven’t been over for a while, this Thursday would be a dang fine time to drop on by.

We’re also bringing you some more game-related virtual items (did somebody say Street Fighter IV?!?!), including the free inFAMOUS Cole Costume for all of you that downloaded the demo and played it through to completion. Keep your eye on the official PlayStation Twitter page for more info regarding the awesome updates we have in “store” for you (terrible pun, I know).

To top this all off we have two events running this weekend in addition to the regularly-scheduled Resistance: SRPA Siege and Saturday Night Street Fightin’ game launching events (check the Clubs and Events subforums on the official PlayStation Home messageboard for more details). The first event starts Friday morning and ends Friday night and has something to do with you and your friends going on a scavenger hunt for parts of a secret code scattered throughout Home and the first 100 winners receiving a free download of Bomberman Ultra from the PlayStation Network. The other is scheduled for Saturday night and also involves free stuff, but you’ll have to keep your eyes on the video screens throughout Home between now and then for more details, because my memory is getting a little furry in my old age…

Oh, and by the way, the Killzone 2 Visari’s Throne and the Namco Bandai Museum are indeed coming to SCEA’s version of PlayStation Home. But not this week. You’ll have to keep an eye on the official Blog, forums, and Twitter accounts to stay up to date as to the progress of these spaces. But don’t despair; you can always spend the time between now and then launching into games of Crash Commando with your friends in Home. Don’t believe me? Give it a try…

XBOX 360: The End of it?

Here is my take. Microsoft didn't build the XBOX 360 thinking about the future, they built it for the present. SONY built the PS3 with one thing only in mind, where will the PS3 be in the next 10 years? That question could be answered here. The PS3, in 10 years, will still be rocking.

SONY built the PS3 with modern technology such as Bluetooth, Motion Controllers, High-Tech under the hood technology, Blu-Ray, and so much more. On the other hand, the XBOX 360 was built just for today's world, still using DVD discs and millennium technology.

Now, some of you might be thinking, why in the hell do we need Blu-Ray and so modern technology. It is for times like this. Blu-Ray hold 5x's more space as regular DVD's which could deliver more graphics or content in a game. Most developers are losing interest in the 360 because they discovered so much they can do with the PS3.

So, we may be seeing the end of the 360 because many have already agreed with the Senior VP of EA Games Europe, Patrick Soderlund, when he said that the 360 was already maxed out and that the PS3 is not.

The game was announced at E3 and is in production by United Front Games in Vancouver British Columbia. The game I would have to admit looks extremely awesome and as soon as this game comes out I am going to grab it.

I will give you the inside scoop right now.

Here are the main highlights:

1. Final Fantasy XIV confirmed for PS3, PC

Earlier today at Sony's E3 media briefing, the console giant dropped the bomb that Final Fantasy XIV would arrive next year as a "PlayStation 3 console exclusive." Square Enix followed up on that today by confirming that the massively multiplayer online role-playing game would also be appearing on the PC.

4. Modern Warfare 2 Updated Impressions - Complete E3 Demo

I MUST INCLUDE THIS:

Microsoft's Press Conference this year was horrible but they did show the demo for Modern Warfare 2.

Heres an article from E3:

Yesterday's Microsoft Press Conference showcased, for the first time, a live gameplay demo for the hotly anticipated Modern Warfare 2. Today, we went behind closed doors with Activision and Infinity Ward to get a more complete, more in-depth look at the demo. We got a great look at the impressive ice-climbing animations, the speedy snowmobile escape, and everything in between. While yesterday's demo cut away significant stretches of action with screens stating "In the interest of time..." and "Things do not always go as planned," our demo showed us exactly how it all went awry and how that snowmobile chase really ended.

First off, we'll flesh out some detail from the dramatic ice-climbing intro. Playing as a character named Roach, our demo driver shimmed around a frozen outcrop behind his team leader, Soap MacTavish. Soap leapt onto the sheer icy wall with stunningly realistic animation, and his weight swung around precariously. Roach's two ice axes are mapped to the left and right triggers. You have to hold the trigger in to swing the axe and keep it stuck in the ice. If you support your weight on one axe for too long, however, that realistic cracking in the ice will become a realistic breaking of the ice, and you'll fall to your death. When Roach makes the dramatic leap across a small chasm, you'll have to pull both triggers to stick both your axes in if you hope to survive.
Once Soap helps Roach to safety, you'll whip out the Silenced ACR with heartbeat sensor. This nasty little fellow shows enemy heartbeats on a flip-out radar window, which is a necessity in the whiteout conditions in which Roach and Soap were immersed. The whiteout is created by falling snow, clouds of white mist, and drifts blowing across the ground. This multilayered effect was compounded by the frost that gathered on Roach's goggles, slowly encroaching on his field of vision and making environmental conditions seem even harsher.

Roach and Soap dispatched a few guard patrols with little trouble, even switching to a cross-handed knife and sidearm combo for one encounter. Roach picked up an enemy weapon at one point and was promptly cautioned by Soap that unsuppressed enemy weapons would attract a lot of attention. Eventually, Soap went off to take the high ground, leaving Roach to navigate the base and airfield alone. Stealth was the order of the day, and the heartbeat sensor came on as Roach made his way across the airfield, ducking in and out of the various structures. The area was much more open and less linear than many of the levels in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Infinity Ward, in fact, explained that its revamped Modern Warfare 2 engine features streaming textures that allow for bigger, more detailed environments.
After getting caught out in the open and gunned down once (oops!), Roach respawned, planted some C4, and headed over to rendezvous with Soap. Roach silently killed many enemies as he stealthily maneuvered between buildings and darted across roads. The unseen Soap even pitched in with a few expertly timed headshots. The two rendezvoused outside of a large hangar, inside of which we could see welders repairing a fighter jet. Once inside, Soap covered their escape while Roach downloaded some mission critical data from a computer in a back office. Roach then received a muttered message from Soap cautioning him to stay low. As Roach rounded the corner, there was Soap standing on the work floor of an open hangar with about 12 enemies surrounding him. As he lifted his arms, he told Soap to "go to Plan B." And we all know what Plan B is...
BOOM goes the C4! And down go the distracted guards as Roach and Soap let their bullets fly. Up until now, the level had featured predominantly stealth action. Now it was a full-on firefight as the two blasted their way out onto the tarmac, frantically trying to maneuver away from their swarming enemies. Gunfire filled the air and enemy soldiers fell in droves, but they just kept coming. Using the MiG aircraft as cover (and as explosive distractions), the two managed to escape the airfield by sliding down an icy slope. But enemy forces were hot on their tail, and the two had to spin around to gun down their pursuers, especially the ones who came flying over the ridge on snowmobiles.
Like in the Microsoft Press Conference demo, Soap and Roach each mounted a snowmobile and took off racing. In addition to dodging trees and taking their rides over sweet jumps, there were plenty of enemies waiting to be gunned down with what appeared to be a semiautomatic sidearm. And then there were the attack helicopters. The chase was exciting on the big screen at the press conference, but in our smaller session, there was an even more intense sense of speed and excitement as trees whipped by and enemy snowmobilers flew onto the screen from unexpected angles. The two fled onto a large frozen lake, then shot up a frozen river through a canyon and out on to a hilltop. Soap's exclamations (and the dials on our own snowmobile) let Roach know that they were running on fumes and that their ride would soon come to an abrupt end. Cresting the hill, we saw a long slope laid out before Roach; much like a long ski jump but dotted with potentially deadly trees. Roach and Soap raced down the slope at their fastest speeds yet and our demo driver clenched with focus as he narrowly avoid tree after tree. At the end of the long slope was, predictably (and awesomely), a wide chasm that our heroes sailed over, arriving on the other side just as their evacuation chopper touched down. Safe, it seems, for now.
The full demo was even more compelling than the press conference demo because it painted the full picture of one of the early levels of the game (titled "Cliffhanger;" an earlier level we spotted was titled "Oil Rig"). The level went seamlessly from a stealth section to a frantic shootout to a dramatic vehicular escape all across a broad, open level (except for the chase bit), and it felt exciting every step of the way. Modern Warfare 2 is a direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and is clearly looking to step it up in terms of dramatic campaign levels. Those hungry for more Modern Warfare 2 should be sure to check out GameSpot's stage show live from E3, where we'll be sitting down again with Infinity Ward and delving even deeper into this exciting shooter.

Here are the newest features added with the patch:

1. Functionality to make the process of finding and playing with friends much easier.

2. Tweaked the Skirmish Mode to keep it interesting for players with lower-bandwidth network connections.

3. Introduced a new ‘High Precision’ option to the controller configuration menu.

4. Improved the overall balance of the game.

Let’s start with the first one: finding and playing with friends. How has that been changed?

We’ve examined how party systems work and added similar functionality to our game where possible. The ‘Join Friend’ option has been changed so that the player can automatically join a friend’s faction and squad – even if faction balancing is on. In addition, squads and their factions are now persistent over multiple games, so friends can keep playing together continuously.

You said the Skirmish Mode been tweaked – can you explain?

Well, we’ve decided to unlock all the badges in Skirmish Mode. Considering that the game has been out for a while, and that many players have already reached the rank of General, we believe this is a nice way for players with lower-bandwidth network connections to experience the full range of weapons and abilities available in the Warzone.

Control-wise, what exactly does the new ‘High Precision’ option do?

When this option is switched on, it makes the analog sticks more responsive to small movements. Turned off, the controls behave exactly as they did before the patch. It’s not a radical overhaul of the control system, so the layout and the ‘weight’ of the controls remain the same.

Still, a lot of us here at Guerrilla really enjoy the new High Precision option, so we’ve decided to switch it on by default for new players. Existing Killzone 2 players will have the option turned off by default after patching – we wouldn’t want to force a sudden change to the controls on you!

How have you improved the overall balance of the game?

For starters, Patch 1.27 allows players to switch factions manually if the factions are unbalanced. If the factions consist of, say, 13 players versus 11 players, a player from the largest faction can manually switch over to make it an even 12 versus 12. Switching in the other direction is not allowed, so players from the smaller team can’t defect to the larger team if the battle doesn’t go their way. Players who switch over retain all their points, but squad affiliations will of course be lost.

Furthermore, we’ve removed the temporary invulnerability awarded to players who spawn at a spawn point other than the base camp. The players will still be safe at their own base camp, but custom-placed or mission-based spawn points do not yield temporary invulnerability anymore. This will hopefully give opposing players already at this location a fair chance.

Finally, we’ve made a couple of changes to the Badge abilities. The Assault Badge, for instance, was deemed too powerful by many players – so we tweaked down its Armor ability from 100 hit points to 50 hit points. The Tactician Badge’s secondary ability (to request air support from a Sentry Bot) has also been tweaked to make the Sentry Bot more useful. It can aim more accurately now, and its health is a little higher as well. To make it even more useful, we’ve reduced the way automated turrets target them, so they’re not shot down as fast. It should certainly make the Air Support Specialist ribbon easier to obtain!

If you went to go see Terminator Salvation then you must've caught the commercial for the inFamous game that was released today.

Now I have to give SONY credit for that considering the fact that they need to fire the guy who is in charge of the ads and where and when to put them because everytime I'm watching t.v. I see a lot of XBOX 360 ads but you never see any Playstation ads. Remember, the more ads you post the more people will buy your products.

I am sure all of you are aware of this situation. I have the reasons.

Here are the many reasons why there is lag:

1. People have shitty connections and are still stupid and try to host.
2. Infinity Ward doesn't give a flying fuck about this game anymore due to MW2 in development.
3. People are just using lag switches or other things that create lag in their favor.

The MotorStorm: Pacific Rift Product Marketing Specialist, David Bull, announced on May 13th that on May 14th that they will be FREE downloadable content every week, for the next 8 weeks.

Here's his exact words on the PS Blog:

Hey all you, Motorstormers!

Hope you’re having fun ripping it up in the jungle on Pacific Rift because starting this Thursday, May 14th, we’ll be sending a downloadable vehicle livery pack your way every week for the next eight weeks exclusively via PlayStation Store. Each pack features new paint jobs for three vehicles, and the full set will give MotorStorm: Pacific Rift players a cutting-edge new look for every single vehicle class in the game: Mudpluggers, Quad Bikes, Monster Trucks, Rally Cars and more. Each new livery has been designed by one of Evolution’s top studio artists and the result is a collection of some of the craziest and out-there vehicle sprays ever seen in a racing game!

And to top it off, all these liveries are FREE!
Additionally, Game Update #2 was just released, and provides a number of useful fixes and updates for MotorStorm Pacific Rift. These include:

Sugar Rush short-cut removed – The short-cut to the left of the “keep right” arrows going into the sugar field was not intentionally included and has been removed
Sugar Rush respawn point fixed – Crashing at a certain point on the track no longer respawns the vehicle in a generous position
Inclusion of Microbadges

Actually, wanted to focus on these new Microbadges as these are very cool ways of giving each player a distinct identity when online in MotorStorm Pacific Rift. Microbadges are in-game displayable ‘medals’ which let you flaunt your proudest personal accomplishments and your off-road racing prowess to every other racer online.

Microbadges go beyond the usual Trophies that MotorStorm Pacific Rift already awards; the idea is that they should be dedicated to things you’d want other players to know about while you’re racing online. Here are some examples:

Gold Festival – Completed Pacific Rift Festival with all Gold medals
Immortal – Win an Online Ranked race without wrecking
Flame and Fortune – 20 Boost explosion wins
Time Attack Master – Record an impressive Time Attack time on any Leaderboard
Supreme Victor – Win any Online or Offline race by a margin of 15 seconds

Microbadges are displayed beneath each Online ID, and players can display up to three badges from the get-go. Three more badge slots (there are six slots total) can be earned by working up the online ranks, and players can unlock 40 microbadges total. Players can choose which badges to show off and highlight what they’ve achieved in the game. Microbadges will also provide retroactive credit, so if you’ve already put in the hours, you’ll be reaping the rewards.

Last but not least, we wanted to give you a heads up on the photo contest we highlighted earlier.
